Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has backed midfielder Fred to have a big season with the club after an unfruitful beginning to his Premier League career.
The Brazil international struggled during his debut campaign with the Red Devils last term and he was restricted ot just 13 starts in the Premier League under two different managers.
Amidst this, there have been concerns whether he can cope with the physical demands of the English top-flight but Solskjaer has backed the midfielder to make the difference for the team this term.
“Good teams I played in we always had a strong base, a keeper, settled backline and we hope to provide that for our attackers and midfielders. We believe Fred is going to have a big season as well,” he was quoted by Metro.
Fred is currently behind the likes of Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira and Nemanja Matic in the race for the midfield spots and he may need to prove his worth through cameo displays before making the first XI.
United are scheduled to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road on Monday night and it will be interesting to see whether Fred makes an appearance in the encounter.
