Shkodran Mustafi's agent updates on defender's Arsenal future

The representative and father of Shkodran Mustafi has said that it would be the best for both parties, should Arsenal sanction the defender's sale before the transfer window closes across Europe.

  • The Germany international has been with the north London giants for the past three seasons where he has made over 100 appearances across all competitions.

Despite this, the 27-year-old has fallen out-of-favour under manager Unai Emery this season amid his inconsistency as well as criticism from the fans and he could head through the exit door in the coming days.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the defender's father said that there is the possibility of the German remaining with the Gunners, but a transfer away seems the better solution at the moment.

"Shkodran had a great time with Arsenal. We still have a contract for two years and can imagine to stay in London. However the best for both sides is probably to work on a transfer," he said.

AS Roma have already proposed a season-long loan deal for the defender with the option to buy for around £20m this summer. However, it appears that the Gunners want an obligatory buy clause included instead.
