Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sanction the sale of midfielder Christian Eriksen this summer, should they receive a sum in the region of £50m.
The Denmark international has already admitted that he would be interested in a new challenge away from Spurs and he has been reluctant to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2020.
Owing to this, Spurs are facing the possibility of losing him on a free transfer next summer and they seem keen on avoiding the same by sanctioning his sale before the European transfer deadline next week.
According to The Mail, club chairman Daniel Levy and manager Mauricio Pochettino have come to the conclusion that the playmaker should be sold and they are prepared to accept a £50m fee before the September 2 deadline.
Eriksen has featured in both the league games for Spurs this season and he is likely to make the matchday squad for the weekend clash against Newcastle United despite the transfer speculation.
La Liga giants Real Madrid are currently deemed the favourites to land the services of the former Ajax graduate, but they are yet to make a formal enquiry.
