Lampard says trio will return after international break

Frank Lampard provides injury update after Sheffield United game

01 September 2019 - 20:00

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed that the trio of Antonio Rudiger, N'Golo Kante and Pedro should return to contention following the international break.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Kante has been sidelined with a minor ankle sprain for the past two weeks while Pedro picked up a hamstring injury in the lead up to the Norwich City game earlier this month.

As such, both players were left out for the recent 2-2 draw against Sheffield United but they are likely to mark their Blues return against Wolves in a couple of weeks' time.

Speaking to Chelsea TV, Lampard confirmed that the duo have only sustained minor injuries and he is hopeful regarding their recovery during the international break.

He added that Rudiger went through the recent Premier League 2 game without any concern and the German should make his first-team comeback when the Blues face Wolves on the road.

Chelsea have genuinely had defensive concerns in the opening phase of the new campaign and this has contributed to them securing just five points after four Premier League matches.
