Manchester United track Portuguese duo from Benfica

03 September 2019 - 11:36

Manchester United are reported to have monitored the progress of both Ruben Dias and Florentino Luis of Benfica during the recent weekend.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Red Devils were associated with a wide range of quality players during the summer but ultimately, they made just three signings in the form of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James.

According to Sport Witness, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to be active over the next two transfer windows and the focus will lie on younger prospects over experience.

The same publication cites that the Red Devils kept a close watch on Dias and Luis during Benfica's comfortable 4-0 league triumph over Braga at the weekend.

Dias, who is a central defender by trade, is being eyed as a competitor to Victor Lindelof, who has recently been prone to making mistakes while playing alongside Harry Maguire.

Meanwhile, Luis may be regarded as a long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic, who has dropped down the selection order under Solskjaer this campaign.
