Lyon have sacked Brazilian manager Sylvinho after a poor start to the season. The Ligue 1 giants have managed just 1 win in 9 games since Sylvinho took charge, and president Jean-Michel Aulas has opted to move swiftly to replace the struggling coach.
Former Arsenal left-back Sylvinho took charge during the summer as part of a new look management team but his results have failed to impress the struggling French club's fans or board.
Sylvinho had overseen two wins out of two at the beginning of the season, with wins over Angers and Monaco, impressive results at 6-0 and 3-0 respectively.
Lyon assistant coach Gerald Baticle will take charge of the club's next game, after a dismal 1-0 defeat to St Etienne on Sunday, which proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Sylvinho. Lyon, who sit 14th place in Ligue 1, are just a pop clear of bottom of the league Metz.
Numerous names have been linked with the vacant role at Lyon and the club will take time before naming a successor to Sylvinho. A hot favourite to take over the role is Juninho Pernambucano, who currently operates as sporting director at the club.
