Manchester United will reportedly seek to make a move for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
The Red Devils have made a dismal beginning to the current season and they are presently lying in the 12th spot with just nine points from eight matches.
According to Goal.com, the club are planning to pursue a holding midfielder and centre-back in the New Year and they will press ahead with the plans regardless of the future of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
It is added that Rice has been earmarked as the prime midfield target for the winter transfer window and United will have to part with a sum of more than £50m to convince the Hammers into a mid-season sale.
United have witnessed the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini this year and their inability to replace them has reduced the quality in the centre of the park.
