Manchester United are reportedly planning a £70m bid for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were linked with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Sean Longstaff during the summer transfer window but they failed to pursue a single midfielder before the deadline.
According to The Mirror, the Red Devils are likely to go on a mid-season spending spree following their slow beginning to the campaign which sees them in the 12th spot.
It is added that a central midfielder remains one of their prime priorities and Rice has been earmarked as the main target ahead of the winter transfer window.
Rice was previously valued at around £50m but reports suggest that the Red Devils may need to offer at least £70m in order to tempt the Hammers into a mid-season sale.
Rice has not missed a single minute of the Hammers' Premier League campaign this term and he has also emerged as a key performer for the England national side.Â
