Manchester United are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Max Allegri over taking charge as the next head coach of the club.

  • United have made their worst-ever start to a top-flight campaign in three decades and they are presently lying in the 12th spot with just nine points on the board.

According to Tuttosport, the club's hierarchy are seriously considering the position of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it may be only a matter of time before the Norwegian is axed from the helm.

The same report claims that the Red Devils are already in discussions over £6.5m a year contract with Allegri and an agreement could be finalised before the end of the month.

The Red Devils are scheduled to face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday and a defeat is expected to pave the way for Solskjaer's dismissal from the head coach position.

Allegri's arrival at the club may coincide with the potential signings of Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic, who have fallen out-of-favour at Juventus under Maurizio Sarri this term.
