Why Solskjaer will remain Uniteds manager next season

Why Solskjaer will remain United's manager next season

13 November 2019 - 18:12

Many Manchester United fans feel that Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer shouldn't be the main man leading the club forward. His resume before joining the club isn't particularly impressive, yet he has arguably the biggest job in the world of football. But the fans would be lying if they didn't say that he has shown exciting glimpses of what his team can do. Despite a poor start to his first full season, things do now seem to turn around for Ole and his squad. Here's why the manager is aspiring to be here until the end of the season, and probably even next year.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • One loss since the international break in October

Things started great for Ole and Manchester United with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford. But afterwards, with injured key players, Solskjaer decided to play very defensively (even against the small sides), which is far from what the fans want to see. However, since the international break in October, Solskjaer has changed the team's dynamic by pushing more forward and trying to attack even harder. The team has been looking more eager to score goals and hasn't, with their solid backline, conceded many either.

Manchester United have only lost one of their seven last games in all competitions, with just one defeat against Bournemouth away in the Premier League. Otherwise, they've drawn against Liverpool and won five games, including a victory on Stamford Bridge.

    Squad taking shape

Solskjaer brought in two new defenders with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who both have steadied the ship in front of David De Gea, and attacker Daniel James, who has proven to be far more dangerous in the Premier League than expected. With new signings doing great, Solskjaer still has had issues with establishing his first eleven – and playing system. Today, with United's new number 9, Martial, back in action, and also the holding midfield with Scott McTominay and Fred doing well, and own product Brandon Williams showing great promise at left-back, we see the squad taking shape.

Ole was sold in as a three-year project

The recruiting of Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer was never meant as a short term solution. The club's vice president Ed Woodward and the manager himself has said that the club's recruitment policy has changed and that they have a long term vision for which Solskjaer fits the profile perfectly. "Short term pain for long term gain" has been a recurrent motto. Some fans assume it's just propaganda, and some fans buy into it. However, Solskjaer, at the moment, showing that he deserves to be trusted for at least a while longer.

Football fans love to predict results and outcomes. Whether it's the result in a particular game via online sites such as the ones you find here on casinofever.ca or who will be the first manager in a league to get the sacking. For example, people were betting before, and during the beginning of the season, on which Premier League manager would be the first to get sacked. In this sentence, Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer and Chelsea's manager Frank Lampard were both highly mentioned. But the footballing legends are still standing.

People do not seem surprised that Lampard has a robust managerial head and expect him to continue doing well. Solskjaer, on the other hand, is supposedly lucky to be alive considering his lack of experience and the amount of pressure that comes with the job. But the Norwegian club legend seems to hang on to his club position for a while longer.
