Arsenal midfielder Torreira to exit in January?

21 November 2019 - 15:33

Out of favour midfielder Lucas Torreira has admitted that he could depart Arsenal in the near future, telling reporters that he sees a future elsewhere and dreams of his possible next location after the Emirates. Torreira's agent has told reporters that his client is unhappy this season, particularly at the lack of first team football but also concern about the Gunners' recent form.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Torreira is popular at the Emirates Stadium but under Unai Emery he has been playing further up the pitch, which is not the Uruguayan midfielder's preferred position.

Subsequently, the former Sampdoria midfielder has discussed potential moves later on in his career, highlighting his love for Argentinian side Boca Juniors.

“Today Arsenal needs me to be focused. I can’t start talking about another team,” the 23-year-old quipped.  “I need to be focused and when the transfer window arrives we will see what will happens.

“I don’t know what can happen in the future. But I wish I could play in Boca. It’s a dream that I have for what that institution represents.”

The Gunners paid close to £22 million for Torreira, and could sell the midfielder for a similar fee. Betenemy odds suggest that Bayern Munich are well priced for Champions League success, and they are also amongst the potential clubs linked with a surprise move for the midfielder.

Torreira has three years remaining on his Arsenal deal.
