Arsenal have reportedly decided against the signing of Carlo Ancelotti as their new permanent head coach.

The Gunners sacked Unai Emery from the managerial role last month and they have since relied on Freddie Ljungberg to control the first-team on an interim basis.

Of late, there has been the speculation that the north London side could approach for Ancelotti following his dismissal at Napoli but ESPN claims that won't be the case.

It is added that the Gunners board are not convinced that the 60-year-old is the right man for the job after seeing his indifferent spells at Bayern Munich and Napoli in the past few years.

Ljungberg has managed to guide the Gunners to just one victory from their four matches in all competitions. He is expected to remain in the touchline when the club host Manchester City in the league on Sunday.

The Capital outfit have struggled against the Cityzens over the past few seasons and they could have a tough challenge on their hands, particularly with their defensive woes this term.
