Mourinho casts doubt on Argentine star's future

13 December 2019 - 18:20

Jose Mourinho has expressed uncertainty over Lo Celso’s future, saying that he doesn’t know how long it would take for the Argentine midfielder to adapt to the Premier League.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Speaking ahead of Wolves' clash, the ex-Manchester United had his say on Lo Celso.

"I don't know. Impossible for me to say that. Some players they accelerate the process, some players arrive immediately and fit in, others they take a long time. It's difficult to say," he told via Football.London.

Furthermore, Mourinho made clear that Lo Celso won't start in Sunday's Premier League clash.

The Argentine midfielder was signed from Real Betis on a season-long loan but hasn't hit the ground running until now. He has missed half of the matches of this season owing to a hip injury.

The 23-year-old made it to the starting line-up against Bayern in the UCL fixture and was substituted later in the game.

However, Mourinho ensured that Lo Celso would get more playing time due to the lack of depth in the midfield.

"He's our player. Our squad is not big in numbers, and he will start for sure because It's impossible to play all the time with the same players," he added.

After their 3-1 defeat against Bayern in the Champions League, Spurs now await Wolves at Molineux stadium this Sunday.
