Havertz set for Leverkusen stay

Kai Havertz makes January transfer decision

17 December 2019 - 18:39

Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz is reportedly prepared to turn down interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Germany international has been heavily linked with a Premier League switch over the past six years with United and Spurs said to be among the main admirers.

According to Sky Sports News, the 20-year-old is aware of the transfer interest from some of Europe's elite sides but he is prepared to stick with Leverkusen for the season before making a decision over his future.

Havertz, who still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing deal, has made 17 starts in the Bundesliga and Champions League this term.

He has not produced the same level of performances as last season and has bagged just two goals and one assist in all competitions for the league leaders.

Still, the Leverkusen graduate is rated highly by many of the European sides, who have tracked his progress and he could be the subject of a transfer tussle next summer.
