Arsenal interested in Thomas Lemar?

28 December 2019 - 20:34

Arsenal are reportedly looking to revive their long-term interest in signing Thomas Lemar, who has endured a difficult spell with Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.

  • £47m star to undergo Chelsea medical on Friday
  • Josh Acheampong eyeing move away from Chelsea
  • The Frenchman was hotly tipped to join the Gunners in the summer of 2017 but a deal failed to materialised on deadline day despite the club willing to offer more than £90m for his services.

12 months later, Lemar made the move to Atleti in a deal worth £63m but he has since struggled to make an impression with just three goals scored from 64 appearances in all competitions.

According to AS, the Gunners are exploring the possibility of signing the former Monaco man but they are unlikely to get him on the cheap despite his difficulty in adapting to the Spanish top-flight.

The same outlet claims that Atletico are not looking at the prospect of selling Lemar at the midway stage of the season and only an 'important' offer would see them part ways with the verstatile attacker.

Arsenal are in the market for at least three signings next month and they have recently been linked with a move for Lemar's compatriot Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
