Chelsea have reportedly made contact with RB Leipzig to know whether they can activate a release clause in the contract of Timo Werner.
Werner has been in sublime form for the Bundesliga leaders this term and he has already amassed 21 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
According to ESPN, the west London giants are aware of a release clause in the striker's contract but they are unsure regarding the exact price for the same.
There have been varying claims that the release clause could be between £25m and £52m and the club have hence made an enquiry over the player's availability.
Regardless of the figure required, the Blues can expect competition for the marksman, who is said to be attracting interest from many as 10 European clubs, as per The Telegraph.
Werner has been hugely influential towards Leipzig's top-of-the-table position at the winter break but the German side seem open to sanctioning his sale at the right price in the New Year.
