Arsenal have reportedly enquired over the asking price for Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng with Mikel Arteta aiming to strengthen the heart of the defence.
Gunners boss Arteta recently confirmed that Calum Chambers' knee injury will see him sidelined for the rest of the season and that could contribute towards the signing of a new centre-back.
According to Sky Sports News, the north London giants are looking at the prospect of signing Boateng, who is keen to part ways with Bayern for a fresh challenge this month.
It is added that the club have already enquired regarding a possible transfer fee for the German, who has been restricted to just 15 appearances in all competitions this term.
Meanwhile, reports elsewhere have stated that Bayern could be willing to loan the German out for the remaining six months of his contract, provided the Gunners are willing to pay the defender's wages in full.
Arsenal face Leeds United in the FA Cup third round on Monday night.
