Bruce eyes old club

Bruce eyes old club

01 April 2008 - 11:39

Wigan boss Steve Bruce is desperate to get one over his old club Birmingham as the two clubs prepare to go head to head. A defeat for Birmingham would put the Blues a step close to relegation.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • He said: "Our main objective and the thing I'm thinking about is getting three points.

"Whatever has gone on in the past is in the past. I have fond memories of Birmingham but I'm determined to get a win – that's my job.

"It's not a defining game but whoever wins can make a huge step forward.

"I had six decent years at Birmingham and their team is virtually the one I put together. I think I probably signed 95 per cent of them.

"It will be nice seeing them again. Damien Johnson was one of my first signings and he's the captain.

"I was totally disappointed with the way things ended there – I don't think that after six years it should have ended like that.

"But it's gone now and my priority is working well for the people at Wigan."
