Manchester United have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to land the signature of midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the transfer of Bruno Fernandes. A further announcement will be made in due course,” a club statement said.
Fernandes has supposedly arrived in Manchester for a series of medical tests and he is expected to put pen-to-paper on a long-term contract in the next 24 hours.
Provided, they are no further delays, the Portuguese could be registered in time to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The former Sampdoria man has been in stellar form this season and prior to arriving at United, he has bagged 13 goals and 10 assists for Sporting in the Primeira Liga and Europa League games.
He is expected to cover up the Red Devils' need for a creative player in the centre of the park and it remains to be seen whether he can find the same level of success from his Sporting days.
