Chelsea plotting approach for Nigerian winger?

Chukwueze on Chelsea radar for the summer

Chelsea plotting approach for Nigerian winger?

11 February 2020 - 19:40

Chelsea are reportedly to be eyeing a summer swoop for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze as they seek to reinforce their options in the wide attacking department.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The west London giants are set to part ways with Pedro when his contract expires in the summer and the same could be the case with Willian unless they are able to finalise a fresh deal in the coming months.

As a result, the club are already looking into probable options for the wider attacking roles and The Mail claims that they have their sights on signing Chukwueze from the ranks of Villarreal.

The Nigeria international's style of play has been compared to former Chelsea star Arjen Robben on a number of occasions and his quick dribbling with pace is said to be one of his main strengths.

He has contributed a tally of just three goals and one assist for the Yellow Submarines this term but the Blues believe he has the potential to become a top-class performer in the future.

Chukwueze's contract has a release clause worth £50m but the Blues will certainly seek to negotiate a lesser value to land the services of the former Diamond Football Academy youngster.
