Olivier Giroud delivers update on his Chelsea future

18 February 2020 - 15:39

Olivier Giroud has said that he is fully committed to Chelsea after being denied a possible move away from the club during the winter transfer window.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Frenchman had been desperate to make the switch to the Serie A last month but he was denied the chance after the Blues failed to find a replacement.

Giroud made his comeback after more than two months in the 2-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United and speaking after the game, the marksman highlighted the ambition to play more regularly.

He told via Goal: "I am a Chelsea player. Now I need to move on, move forward. I want to give everything for the team and obviously my personal target is to play as much as I can to play the Euros for my country. It is massive for me."

The striker was lively during his cameo appearance against United where his goal was chalked off for an offside but he could get the opportunity to start against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Batshuayi got the nod for the starting XI in the injury absence of Tammy Abraham but the Belgian was pretty poor in front of goal and squandered a couple of scoring chances in the first half.
