Juventus withdraw from Kai Havertz race

14 March 2020 - 08:13

Juventus have pulled out of the transfer race to sign Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz this summer. It is understood that the Bundesliga side are looking to redeem a fee of around 100 million euros to sell Havertz, and the Serie A side are nowhere near ready to match the German club's valuation.

  • Havertz has been one of Europe's best young players in recent seasons and has caught the eye with a number of impressive attacking performances in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich and Man City are amongst the teams that have shown some interest in the German international, but it is not yet known whether those two clubs will make a bid for the player at the current valuation.

Juventus had hoped to spend a maximum of 60 million euros to sign Havertz, who has three years remaining on his deal with his current club.

Leverkusen have admitted that it is unlikely they will be able to keep hold of Havertz beyond this campaign, as the player has indicated that he would like to leave in search of a new challenge at a bigger club.
