'He's a complete midfielder player', Owen Hargreaves heaps praise on Man United star

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has heaped praise on Fred, who has become a valuable player for the Red Devils during the current campaign.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Brazil international joined the Red Devils for a £52.5m fee from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer of 2018 and he had an ordinary debut season where he made just 13 league starts.

At the start of the current season, he endured a similar treatment from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but an early injury to Paul Pogba meant that he benefited from a regular run of games from the starting XI.

Since then, Fred has been impressive with his defensive abilities from the centre of the park and he has stood out particularly in the Manchester derbies, where he has made a number of key tackles.

Speaking on Premier League productions, Hargreaves described the Brazilian as the complete midfield player and believes he can become the perfect, should he regularly find the back of the net.

"He’s a complete midfield player but if he can add goals to his game then he’ll be the perfect midfield player. In possession he’s very good, out of possession he’s really aggressive," he told.

He added that the 27-year-old is definitely not a number 10 but he still remains a quality player in the United ranks, having made more tackles and interceptions than any other midfielder at the club.

“I think because they paid £50m for Fred and he’s Brazilian that people thought he was a No.10 but he isn’t. He’s not a goalscorer and he’s not really creative but what he is a really good midfield player," he further told.
