Chelsea set sights on signing Serie A striker?

19 March 2020 - 19:45

Chelsea could reportedly compete with Barcelona in the race to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan during this summer's transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Blues boss Frank Lampard is expected to be handed with a sizeable transfer budget for the summer, with the club having made no signings in the past couple of transfer windows.

According to Tuttosport, the west London are keen on recruiting a new striker and they have earmarked Martinez as a potential candidate to strengthen the position.

Martinez has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months but reports have emerged that the Blaugrana are still reluctant to trigger the £101m release clause on the marksman's contract.

As a result, the Blues seem to hold the edge over the Spanish champions, given the hierarchy are likely to back the manager with significant funds to spend ahead of next season.

Apart from Martinez, the Capital outfit have also been credited with an interest in Juventus' Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian has been earmarked as a possible replacement for Jorginho, who could head in the opposite direction.
