Arsenal to make shock move for Jesse Lingard?

04 April 2020 - 20:07

Arsenal could reportedly make a shock swoop for Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • Lingard has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford as the season has progressed and he is currently restricted to a bench role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

According to The Athletic, the north London side hold a long-term interest in the 27-year-old and they have not ruled out a possible move to sign him during the summer.

The north London side are expected to lose the services of Daniel Ceballos when his loan stint concludes during the summer and reports indicate they are unlikely to meet Real Madrid's £40m price tag.

As a result, they are likely to be on the search for a new midfield player and Lingard is one of the players under consideration despite the fact that he has primarily featured in an attacking role at United.

Lingard has just 15 months remaining on his existing deal with the Red Devils and he could be available for a cut-price fee during the next transfer window.
