The representative of Willian Jose has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur had made a formal move to sign the Brazilian striker during the winter transfer window.
The 28-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League for a number of years and it appears that Sociedad rejected an official bid from Spurs for the marksman.
Speaking to journalist Jorge Nicola, agent Nick Arcuri revealed that his client was on the radar of Barcelona, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham in January.
"So I tell everyone, just in this January market, he had, that's official, alright Jorge? He had Barcelona, he had Tottenham, he had Manchester United, he had Newcastle," he told.
He added that Jose Mourinho's side made a player-plus-cash offer worth £26m but the proposal was deemed insufficient for Sociedad to sanction his sale.
"Then, just there, again, he speaks for himself. Tottenham. They got to offer between, they wanted to offer a player and an amount, so it was about €30m [£26m]," he added.
Jose has netted 54 from 138 appearances for Sociedad. He has more than four years remaining on his contract with the option for another 12 months if required.
The Spanish club are not actively looking to part ways with the marksman but they may be tempted to sell him, if they receive a straight-cash offer of around £21m.
