Spanish defender Pablo Mari has revealed his desire to sign a permanent contract with Arsenal at the end of the campaign.

  • The centre-back joined the Gunners on a five-month loan from Flamengo in January and he had to wait until March to make his first-team debut.

Mari was able to impress against Portsmouth and West Ham United in the FA Cup and Premier League respectively before the games were suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mari said that he has plenty of things to learn at the north London side and he is hopeful that the Gunners can strike a permanent agreement for his services this summer.

"I have a lot of things to learn but I think my football can be really good with the Arsenal. I hope the club and I can go at the end (of the season) with good things to do the permanent transfer," He told.

Arsenal have the option to buy Mari from Flamengo for £8m. His current loan deal expires at the end of June but the club will be able to extend until the season concludes as per FIFA's recommendation.
