Arsenal have reportedly ended their interest in signing Axel Disasi from Reims during the summer transfer window.
A recent report from The Mail claimed that the Gunners had revived their interest in the central defender and they could sign him for around £15m when the season concludes.
This has, however, been dismissed by The Athletic, who suggest that Mikel Arteta has the preference for a left-footed centre-back and he would favour the permanent signing of Pablo Mari.
Mari joined the Gunners on a short-term loan from Flamengo during the January transfer window and he was able to impress in his two appearances before the season was brought to a halt because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Gunners have the option to sign him permanently for around £8m from the Brazilian Serie A outfit and they are likely to trigger the clause with Mari already stating that he wants to remain with the club for a very long time.
