Odion Ighalo speaks on his Manchester United future

Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has reiterated that he would like to extend his loan contract with Manchester United until the end of the season.

  • Chelsea eyeing part-exchange deal to sign Osimhen
  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The striker joined the Red Devils in a surprise loan deal from Shanghai Shenhua in January and he was able to impress with four goals from eight outings before the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 threat.

Ighalo's temporary contract with the club is due to expire at the end of May but reports have emerged that the Red Devils have already initiated talks with Shenhua over an extension.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Ighalo has now reiterated the same saying: "I would like to finish the season if it's possible. I was in good form, good shape, scoring goals and now we've stopped for over a month."

United are keen on strengthening the attack with a new striker during the summer and the likes of Timo Werner and Moussa Dembele have been linked in recent weeks.

They could, however, look at the possibility of sealing a permanent deal for Ighalo, suppose they are unable to land any of their preferred centre-forward targets.
