Chelsea are reportedly planning an opening bid worth £60m to land the signature of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.

  • The German has enjoyed a superb campaign with the Bundesliga outfit where he has amassed 18 goals and eight assists in all competitions.

His form has caught the eye of the Blues, who have already made contact with his agent and it appears that they are now planning a formal bid.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, the Blues are prepared to step up their pursuit and will make an offer of around £62m for Havertz.

The package is likely to be rebuffed by Leverkusen, who want at least £90m for Havertz and there could be further negotiations between the sides.

Havertz is currently not in a hurry to make a decision over his future despite the fact that he is being tracked by some of Europe's elite clubs.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in Havertz, but the former are unlikely to make a move after the purchase of Leroy Sane.
