Manchester United will have to pay additional bonuses of around £9m to Sporting for Bruno Fernandes when a couple of clauses on his contract are triggered.
The Portugal international joined the Red Devils for £45m in January, but the deal could raise to £67m depending on the clauses included at the time of agreement.
According to A Bola, the Red Devils are set to pay £4.5m when Fernandes makes his 20th appearance. It is added that the club will part with a similar amount, if they are able to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Fernandes has been a huge success since his mid-season move from Sporting and he has registered nine goals and eight assists from just 18 appearances across all competitions.
His contributions have helped the club in their Champions League pursuit. The Red Devils are currently fifth on the table behind Leicester City on goal difference, but they have an excellent chance to jump ahead of them as they have a game in hand against West Ham United.
