Barcelona closely watching Chelsea wonderkid

Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Chelsea wonderkid Estevao amid his lack of regular playing time under manager Xabi Alonso this term.

The youngster joined the Blues from Palmeiras last summer and had a decent debut season. He was expected to become a more prominent figure this campaign, but things have panned out differently with the change of manager.

Alonso has switched to a 3-4-2-1 system and does not believe Estevao has the defensive attributes to start from the right wing-back position. Pedro Neto has so far been the regular choice in the role for the Spanish tactician.

This may not change anytime soon and reports claim that Barcelona are keeping a close track on his situation and could make a surprise raid for his services in either January or next summer.

Estevao has already proved that he can comfortably play on either wing. Barcelona may see him as a possible left wing solution, given they have Lamine Yamal as an undisputed starter on the right flank.
