Liverpool have no plans of extending the contract of midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, a report from The Telegraph claims.
The Netherlands international joined the Reds from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016 and over the past four years, he has accumulated 186 appearances in all competitions.
He was a regular in the centre of the park as the club won their maiden Premier League title last term, but it appears that there has been no progress in the contract negotiations.
Wijnaldum's present deal with the Reds expires in 10 months' time and as things stand, the club have no plans of handing him a new and improved deal.
Hence, he could head for the exit door in the coming weeks with Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara identified as a possible replacement from Bayern Munich.
The Reds are keen on signing the 29-year-old, but they have been put off by the £27m asking price. Their pursuit could be aided by the potential exit of Wijnaldum.
