AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer could be available for only £45m during next summer's transfer window.
The former Arsenal graduate joined the Rossoneri from Empoli last year and he has since emerged as a key player in the centre of the park.
Earlier this summer, he was linked with the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, but the Rossoneri were reluctant to listen to any offers.
However, they may be helpless in doing so next summer. The Algeria international has a release clause worth £45m in his contract which will become active at the end of the current season.
United are likely to pursue a long-term replacement for Nemanja Matic. Bennacer is reportedly a target for them, and it remains to be seen whether they will compete with other clubs for his services.
Bennacer was recently in action for the Rossoneri in the Milan derby. Stefano Pioli's side beat Inter Milan by a 2-1 scoreline to move to the top of the Serie A table.
