Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold could be out of action for at least four weeks following the calf injury sustained against Manchester City.

  • The England international was substituted after the hour mark of the contest with the concern, but the extent of the injury was not immediately revealed.

According to The Times' Paul Hirst, the Reds are expected to be without Alexander-Arnold for around four weeks following a medical assessment.

The right-back has already pulled out of the England squad for the upcoming internationals which include crucial Nations League games.

He is expected to be unavailable for the Reds' matches against Leicester City, Atalanta, Brighton & Hove Albion, Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Reds have experienced multiple injuries at the start of the season and they could be without Virgil van Dijk for the season after a serious knee injury.

Fabinho and Alexander-Arnold have recently entered the treatment room, but there has been a boost with Thiago Alcantara expected to make his return this month.

Thiago had been out on the sidelines with a knee injury. He returned to training before the Cityzens game and will be fit to face Leicester City after the international break.

One of Neco Williams or James Milner could take up Alexander-Arnold's position.
