Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly received a boost in signing Dayot Upamecano next summer with Bayern Munich unlikely to afford him.

The Frenchman put pen-to-paper on a new contract with RB Leipzig earlier this summer, but the deal has a £40m release clause which becomes active at the end of the season.

Bayern have been widely mentioned as one of the contenders, but Bild claims that they may not be able to afford the price tag during next summer's transfer window.

The Bavarian giants are facing the prospect of losing both David Alaba and Jerome Boateng when their contracts expire in eight months' time, but it appears that they may not spend big on a replacement.

Hence, that could pave the way for another side to land Upamecano and reports claim that both Liverpool and United could look to lure him to the Premier League next term.

United were previously interested in signing Upamecano when he was with Valenciennes in 2015, but the deal fell through following a row over just £200,000 in transfer fees.
