Alfredo di Stefano has been declared as the best Real Madrid player of all time, in a current survey done by the Club's official website.

  • Real Madirid, the best club in the planet with nine champions league titles, had the services of a series of outstanding players through the years. The survey started by the club's official website on March 6th, the day Real Madrid turned 106, had more than one million votes casted by fans from around the world.



    Alfredo di Stéfano, the striker from Argentina topped the list with 28,466 votes followed by Frenchman Zinedine Zidane and current skipper Raúl González.



    Di Stéfano, nicknamed Saeta rubia or Blond Arrow is Real Madrid's highest league goalscorer of all time, with 216 goals in 282 league matches between 1953 and 1964. He joined the Spanish giants from Deportivo Los Millonarios in Columbia, where he had scored 267 goals in 294 matches between 1949 and 1953, a feat beyond compare.



    The list also has Santiago Bernabéu Yeste in fourth position, the man who transformed Real Madrid from the second team in Madrid to the most successful club in Europe. The current stadium is named in his honour. He became the coach, manager and the President of Real Madrid later on and was the master-mind behind signing world-class players from abroad, including Di Stefano, Munoz, Gento, Santamaria, Kopa, Puskas, Amancio, Santillana, Camacho and many more.



    Another legendary footballer Ferenc Puskas, the Galloping Major stands ninth, who has a career record of 514 goals in 529 matches challenged only by the great Pele. The other notable players inlcude Butragueno, Santillana, Hugo Sanchez, Gento and Amancio.



    The current Real Madrid players who find their names in the list are Raúl González, the inspirational captain, and Iker Casillas.
