Ajax win prevents stops PSV party

Ajax win prevents stops PSV party

16 April 2008 - 21:20

Ajax Amsterdam defeated Groningen 2-1 in the Eredivisie on Wednesday night to ensure that PSV Eindhoven have yet to win the title - yet. The match was initially scheduled for last week but ended up being postponed.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Lindgren put Ajax in the lead after 18 minutes; but a great fightback ensured and Groningen reacted well, and Groningen star Cahais levelled the score from a set-piece situation just before half time.

PSV fans would've thought the title was heading it's way to Eindhoven at that stage, but in the second half Ajax mounted a great challenge and Uruguayan Luis Suárez converted a great cross from former Charlton Athletic man Dennis Rommedahl.

Now PSV need at least a draw to clinch the title.
