Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Thomas Partey's injury following the club's 1-0 Premier League defeat at Aston Villa.
The midfielder sustained a muscular injury during the backend of the game and that saw him substituted in the 74th minute.
In his post-match press conference, Arteta confirmed that the 27-year-old has suffered a fresh injury blow, but the extent of the problem is unknown.
"He had a muscular injury so we had to take him off. He could not carry on playing. I don’t know [how bad it is],” he told Arsenal.com.
"We will see the extent of the injury. He wasn’t feeling well enough to continue playing so we had to take him off."
Partey has suffered two separate thigh injuries this term and this has sidelined him for half of the Premier League matches to date.
His debut season has not gone as planned and he could now be on the sidelines for a few weeks which is a blow for the club.
Dani Ceballos or Mohamed Elneny may partner Granit Xhaka when the Gunners take on Leeds United at the Emirates next weekend.
