Manchester United change transfer plans due to Edinson Cavani

16 May 2021 - 20:43

Manchester United have changed their summer transfer plans after convincing Edinson Cavani to stay for another 12 months.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Uruguayan joined the Red Devils on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, and has had a productive season with 15 goals.

His form has been impressive over the past few months, and the striker recently committed his future for another campaign.

According to The Mirror, the club had their sights on landing either Harry Kane or Erling Haaland, but they have now cooled their interest.

The hierarchy are set to place their trust on Cavani, and are convinced that Mason Greenwood can step in the absence of the Uruguayan.

Greenwood has been the pick of the players since the last international break, scoring five goals in the Premier League alone.

United are likely to prioritise a right winger this summer, and Jadon Sancho is reportedly the prime target for the club.

The Borussia Dortmund winger could be available for around £75m.
