Eric Bailly prepared to leave Manchester United?

25 May 2021 - 20:46

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is prepared to leave the club this summer unless he is guaranteed regular playing time.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao

  • The Ivorian signed a new long-term deal last month, but there continues to remain speculation regarding his future.

In an interview with The Times, Bailly said that he signed a new contract after receiving assurances of game time from Ole Gunnar Solkjaer.

He added that he won't settle for a bench role, and would be happy to move elsewhere in the search for regular first-team football.

Despite renewing Bailly's contract, United are actively on the search for an elite defender to partner Harry Maguire next term.

They are increasingly interested in Real Madrid's Raphael Varane, who could be on the move in the next transfer window.

Varane has only 13 months left on his contract, and he has declined a renewal with a view to a new challenge.

If United land his signature, it appears likely that Bailly will push for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.
