Liverpool have reportedly entered negotiations with AC Milan's Hakan Calhanoglu over a possible free transfer.
The Turkey international had an impressive 2020/21 campaign, registering nine goals and 12 assists from 43 appearances.
His current deal with the Rossoneri expires in June, and the Serie A club have refused to meet his salary demands.
According to Calciomercato, the Reds have initiated talks with Calhanoglu as they look to bring him to the Premier League.
The Reds have one of the best attackers in the top-flight, but they have lacked the presence of a goalscoring midfielder.
Calhanoglu would fill the void for the Reds, but a deal is far from done with plenty of competition for his signature.
Manchester United, Juventus and Arsenal have also been linked with the 27-year-old, who has earned 55 caps for Turkey.
Calhanoglu wants wages of around £80,000-a-week, but Milan are reluctant to offer him more than £65,000 to renew his contract.
The attacker remains hopeful for a resolution, and could make a decision over his future after the European Championships.
