PSV secure Eredivisie title

20 April 2008 - 20:32

PSV Eindhoven claimed their fourth consecutive Dutch league title on Sunday after a 1-0 victory over Vitesse Arnhem. Ajax had won earlier in the day, but it mattered not as PSV were victorious at Vitesse.

  • PSV travelled to Arnhem knowing that they only needed one point to secure the title. Ajax defeated Heracles 5-1, but it didn't matter as PSV came up trumps.

It was a great piece of man management from Sef Vergoossen the PSV boss, who noticed that PSV were not on form in the first half and looked a little nervous.

Vergoossen replaced top scorer Danny Koevermans at half time with Serbian striker Danko Lazovic.

The goal came thanks to good work from Jefferson Farfan who sent Lazovic through to send the ball home and with it the Eredivisie title.
