Chelsea yet to make approach for Saul Niguez

Chelsea are yet to make an approach to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez this summer, Fabrizio Romano claims.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • Saul has spent his entire playing career with Atleti, but the club are open to selling him after the arrival of Rodrigo De Paul.

He has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, and it has recently emerged that the Blues are interested.

According to Romano, the west London giants are considering whether they can afford to sign a new midfielder this month.

The club are prioritising a move for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, who could cost around €70m in case of a straight-cash deal.

Saul could be available for a lesser fee of around €45m, but the move largely depends on the Blues recouping funds from player exits.

The capital outfit are keen on reducing their wage bill, and they are open to both permanent and loan offers for fringe players.
