Etoo going nowhere

Eto'o going nowhere

22 April 2008 - 10:28

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has revealed that he has no intentions of leaving the club. The Cameroonian forward has been injured for some of the season and found his first-team spot under threat from young starlets Bojan Krkic and Lionel Messi.

  • Dutch star undergoing his medical at Chelsea
  • Chelsea's deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder falls through

  • "I am surprised by all this reaction, I want to make it clear that I never threatened to leave Barcelona," he told radio station Cadena SER.

"This season I have the opportunity to win the Champions League, but if I do not win it and then the coming year I don't win anything either, it will be three years without obtaining anything. A club such as Barca cannot allow that.

"What I said was that I would not feel comfortable playing in a team that signed me to score goals and to win, and I don't manage it. I would not be able to look the fans in the face.

"Next year I will be at Barcelona. I hope to start next season at my best level because during the last two seasons injuries have affected me. I hope to be able to help the team improve and that, all being well, we can win many things."
