Chelsea reach contract impasse with 25-year-old

26 October 2021 - 16:35

Chelsea have stalled in negotiations over a new contract with Andreas Christensen, according to Goal.com.

  • The centre-back was touted to sign a new deal this month, but there has been an impasse due to differences over the salary.

The Blues have offered Christensen a 'significant rise' on his previous wages, but he would still be one of their lowest earners.

Christensen has entered the final year of his Blues deal, and he can negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club in January.

However, the 25-year-old appears content to stay with the west London giants rather than moving on. He has publicly said the same.

It remains to be seen whether the hierarchy are willing to re-open negotiations with a better wage package on the table.

Christensen was an unused substitute in the 7-0 Premier League rout of Norwich City, but is likely to start against Southampton.

The Blues host the Saints in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup this evening.
