Liverpool are in the race for Argentinian midfielder Maxi Rodriguez. The Atletico Madrid player has recently revealed he is keen to stay at the club, but Rafa Benitez will test the Spanish club's resolve this summer.
The interest of Liverpool comes as somewhat as a surprise, as the Reds have several attacking midfielders on their books.
Liverpool may make a £12 million offer for the Argentinian international.
âI want to stay here, I want to retire here and Iâve already said that several times,â Rodriguez told the clubs official website last week.
âWhat I want right now is to get into Champions League with the team.
âIâve been here for three years fighting for that and weâre going to do it.
âI have two more years on my contract and Iâm not thinking about whether or not other teams are coming and asking about me.â
