Arsenal to delay Lacazette contract talks

Arsenal delay contract talks with striker

24 February 2022 - 20:30

Arsenal don't plan to negotiate with Alexandre Lacazette until the end of the campaign, football.london claims.

  • Chelsea set £35m price to sell 20-goal striker
  • Arsenal considered favourites to sign Leipzig striker

  • The Frenchman has just four months remaining on his contract, and there have been no talks over a possible renewal.

Lacazette has already hinted that his agent is assessing offers, but it appears the Gunners have not ruled out his stay.

The Gunners are currently with a good chance of qualifying for the Champions League with a top-four league finish.

Should they manage to do so, the hierarchy could be willing to negotiate a new deal with Lacazette based on his showing.

The striker has been far from impressive up front with just three league goals this term, but has excelled with his link-up play.

Lacazette has five assists to his name. He could boost his chances of a new deal if he helps the club finish in the top four.

Similar to Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah's deal expires in the summer, but he could leave amid the lack of regular game time.
