Bayer Leverkusen are set to make an offer to their former goalkeeper Bernd Leno, whose contract at Arsenal comes to an end on July 1st. The German international lost his place to Aaron Ramsdale earlier in the season, leaving Leno with a likely route to another club.

  • The German shotstopper had an excellent start to life in North London, but in recent times has fallen down the pecking order and had some disappointing performances that has seen Ramsdale take the number 1 jersey.

According to reports from Germany, at least three clubs are set to make a pre-contract offer to Leno, but it is his former club Leverkusen that are in pole position, offering a four year contract to the 30-year-old. With the deal is the offer of guaranteed first-team football.

Leno arrived at Arsenal in 2018 and went on to play 101 times so far for the Emirates side. At Leverkusen Leno racked up 233 games for his former club.

Arteta recently said of the German keeper: "Obviously it’s been a tough few months for him because he’s always played in his career, but he has stayed there, Aaron has been here to support him and it’s great to see those things."
