26 year old Werder Bremen goal keeper Tim Wiese has been linked with a move to Man Utd in the summer as Sir Alex Ferguson begins his search for a long-term successor for Edwin van der Sar.
The Dutch goalkeeper is expected to retire as of next summer, and Wiese is being lined up by United to replace him.
Wiese spent his early career at Fortuna Koln and Kaiserslautern before completing a move to Bremen, and is on the fringes of the Germany international team.
The News of the World today reported that Wiese would be van der Sar's understudy for one season, before establishing himself as the number 1 for the season afterward.
